LET ME UNSEE

HIT THE NORTH - BELFAST 2022

Painted for the Hit the North festival in 2022, this mask represent a feeling of being overwhelmed with everything I’m consuming, seeing, absorbing, experiencing, living and decoding at the moment. It feels like the world is bashing more and more through my eyes, filling me with more and more and more every day.

It’s all consuming, screen after screen, scroll after scroll, ad after ad, another painting, another meme, another story, banana jelly, cat memes, peppermint fondant paint, the texture of her hair, conversations, arguments, riots, AI, work, war, conflict, love, lust, art, friends. How much more can I take being bombarded with on a constant basis?

Everything’s is new, bigger, brighter, better, faster, smoother, sexier. It’s impossible to not be enraptured by it all, but it’s bloody exhausting. I feel I need to unsee, to switch off a few of my eyes, and to try to process fewer things. I’m overstimulated, which I love, but sometimes I just need a break.
Let Me Unsee.
